Genevieve has a passion for nature in her work. A botanical image of a tulip bulb with emerging leaves has been chosen for this repoussé project. During this demonstration participants will be shown how to use a chasing hammer and tools using an ancient metals technique called repoussé. The repoussé process means to raise the metal, which creates a 3 dimensional image. Using the Italian chasing tools from the reverse side of the image raises the design which is then flipped over to the front of the design. Chasing incorporates pushing metal back to create the form. This requires precise movements when hammering.
