We will explore mark making on ceramic forms using composition, color, line and pattern. Shannon will give you heaps of practical tips and techniques to underpin your creative expression. Learn to work in an intuitive expressive way, getting layered and sophisticated surfaces.
Using underglazes, color mixing and oxides. This part of the program will set up easy techniques you can use on a variety of clays and surfaces and provide you with the knowledge and confidence to mix your own colors using a variety of ceramic mediums.
This workshop includes:
- Color mixing
- Brushwork: Talk about different marks your tools can make, brushwork exercise
- Shellac resist, including making and using shellac
- Sgraffito
- Mishima/Inlay techniques
Ceramics is our medium, we look at color mixing, using underglazes, slips and glaze stains to create pattern and texture, drawing on ceramic surfaces, simple glazes, (only one we promise!) and exploring mark making, drawing, patterns, and colors.
