Spouts and lids bring attention to the intention of a form. The carefully crafted spout brings grace and elegance while delivering cold lemonade on a summer day or piping hot tea on a chilly evening. In this workshop, Sarah will present how she handbuilds spouts that are open (creamer/pitcher) and closed (coffee or teapot) that can be used on either handbuilt or thrown forms.
Similarly, lids help to secure the contents of a jar or pouring vessel. Sarah will demonstrate how she handbuilds lids that add a flourish in the way they are designed and finished.
Lids and spouts are important components in slabbuilt design and these form techniques will be combined with presentations of different spout and lid combinations. Sarah will address why she has chosen certain combinations for specific forms while her demonstrations on how to make slabbuilt spouts and lids that will give you the tools to create their own pouring and lidded vessels.
