RECORDING: Controlling Crystalline Glazes - Part 2: Effects of Altering Glazes with Andy Boswell
RECORDING: Controlling Crystalline Glazes - Part 2: Effects of Altering Glazes with Andy Boswell
Recorded on Saturday and Sunday, January 22 and 23, 2022 Video duration: 3 hours and 8 minutes
Presented in partnership with the Dunedin Fine Arts Center, Dunedin, FL
Those familiar with crystalline glazes are used to using a catcher for the excess glaze that runs off their pots. But what if you didn't need those things? What if you were able to alter glazes in such a way that the glaze ran minimally and you no longer needed the catchers nor the finish grinding?
This session of "Controlling Crystalline Glazes: Reduce the Running and the Variance" addresses the research techniques that Boswell uses to change his glazes in such a way that the glazes run far less than traditional crystalline glazes.
We hope you enjoy this hybrid workshop and the back and forth between presenter, in-person participants and those in the virtual workshop chat. Because the workshop was recorded with a live studio audience, you hear other dialog that is pertinent to crystalline glazed pottery, such as firing schedules, glaze chemistry and acid etching.
