REC: Introduction to Spraying Glazes: Atmospheric Effects for Electric Firing – with Steven Hill
Recorded on Saturday, September 19, 2020
Video duration: 2 hours and 10 minutes
Join Steven for his introduction to spraying glazes. He will cover the basic techniques of feathering and how to judge glaze thickness while spraying. Then he will touch on his theories of layering multiple contrasting glazes to achieve the depth of surface and color in midrange electric firing that routinely occurs in high fire reduction and atmospheric firing. Microcrystals play an important part in the illusion and Steven will discuss how he encourages their development through extended cooling cycles, careful formulation, and lots of experimentation.
Steven will also glaze a few pots, so you can see, up close, the visual cues that guide him while glazing.
You won't want to miss the opportunity to see this master potter and distinguished workshop presenter in his element!
